About Us
Manu (pronounced – [man-oo])
Well, this all started some years ago when attending a football match, we were surprised to see and hear a particularly vociferous part of the crowd who were supporters of the home team all stand up and sing “Stand up, if you hate manu, stand up, if you hate manu, stand up, if you hate manu, stand up, if you hate manu”; to the tune of Go West by The Village People.
The fans who supported the away team at the opposite end of the ground promptly leapt to their feet and joined in, swelling the chorus to an impressive crescendo, the response from the home team supporters was an immediate huge round of applause approving their rivals at the opposite end of the ground.
We were so amazed by this apparent bonding between the usually hostile opposing fans that we set out to discover what this strange thing that they sung of was.
Whilst we still have no definitive answer to this question, we considered all of the following possibilities:
noun Hindu Mythology. - the progenitor and lawgiver of the human race
We quickly discounted this, as why would football fans not like anything to do with Hinduism, or indeed know anything about it!
noun Canadian Slang - a mobile home
Unlikely that football fans would travel to Canada as the sport there isn’t too good and they don’t have enough money to bribe FIFA officials
noun Geographical place - Manu River in Peru
Again it is very unlikely that any Football fans have been here as it is over 133 miles from its nearest point to Machu Picchu
verb shortened version of Manufacturing - the making of goods or wares by manual labour or by machinery
